Moodle is great in many contexts[1]. However, an AFS or Samba mount
with web-accessible folders is far too often overlooked.
I'd really like to see more ODF-aware web tools. Moodle has ODF icons
thanks to Pete's icons and my yammering. But I'm thinking more than
just icons and more like actual ODF indexing capabilities.
There we need to have development for dSpace, Swish-e, etc. I haven't
lately looked at Lenya / Lucene. For the simple mainstream FOSS tools,
it's just a few days of developer time. For the larger tools, it's more
complex, but an informal, non-scientific survey I made two years ago
suggested both interest and need of a catalyst or organizer.

(The eDegree Programme in Lapland uses Moodle over
the vigorous objections and passive interference from
onsite minions of Bill. Despite the opposition
it works well enough to have produced award-winning
results.)
