Well put, Daniel. We need to make sure that Microsoft doesn't just fool the
EU into thinking that it should avoid punishment for its market abuse with
the ISO MOOX vote. Because that is probably one key motivation for this
announcement. I think that Microsoft realizes that they could face
structural remedies for anti-trust violations in the EU. I don't practice
anti-trust law, but I am assuming that the EU would be able to condition
Microsoft's sales in Europe on restructuring its business in the EU as
different companies. So even if the US government never orders the breakup
of Microsoft in the US, nothing is to stop the EU from ordering such a
breakup, right?
