It is actually a little more than that. What I said in that ODF Adoption
TC call is that we've done a lot of taking about test suites, profiles,
interoperability testing, etc. Now is the time to actually do the work. I
suggested a new TC because of the way OASIS works. A TC is limited by its
charter to deliver the of things (standards, reports, etc.) that its
charter calls for. The Adoption TC thought that this work would be too
technical for them, and the ODF TC thought it was outside of their
charter, so I proposed making a new TC.

I also said that I'd be willing to participate, and to work this new TC
through the OASIS approval paperwork, but only if the Adoption TC would
first find me 6 people to be charter members of the TC. No offense to the
Adoption TC, but I said I wanted 6 technical people. We're not going to
get this work done with 6 marketing managers. So they will check around
at their companies (Sun, Google, Novell, etc.) to see if they can find
some people to staff the effort. Obviously participation from ODF vendors
is especially important. We'll reach out to Corel, for example, as well.

I'm glad you brought this topic, and my post up, because I was supposed to
check with the ODF Fellowship to see if anyone wanted to get involved.
Honestly, I've been tardy in that task, mainly because I can't figure out
who the hell is in charge of the Fellowship. Maybe that is a dumb
question to ask.

In any case, consider that the discharge of my duties in that regard.
You've been served. I'd be interested in your thoughts.

Regards,

-Rob
