BECTA, the UK government quango that supports UK schools has just put
out a tender for supporting a Schools Open Source Project. I'm putting a
bid together through my company The Learning Machine supported by
Schoolforge UK and members of the Open Source Consortium. The plans will
include supporting odf in schools. Would anyone have any objections to
me saying that the Fellowship supports the application? The funding is
around £100k per annum for 2 years but just as importantly, its official
support from a government agency with a specific aim of helping schools
migrate to open systems. If we are successful, it is likely there will
be further funding and I have some ideas about using this investment to
generate a more sustainable income from the schools. In that case we are
more likely to be able to fund further odf projects especially if we can
find an angle to support schools.

If anyone here has a background in schools/open source and would like to
go on the consultants list, just send me an e-mail with a brief resume.

Thanks,

Ian
