[odf-discuss] Failure of MOOX for numbers in spreadsheets

While in one way it's good that some of the areas where MOOX falls
egregiously behind ODF are coming to light, one point which has yet to
be made is that ISO is for finished specifications. At no point does it
appear that ISO's role is to develop standards, which is exactly what's
happening here.
Few articles point out anything more than that there are groups that
want MOOX and groups that don't, thus making the dilemma appear more as
a preference of opinion rather than the deep technical, legal, ethical
and procedural problems.
Everyone affected by this ought to get together and bill MS for wasting
their time. MS is able to get the whole friggin world to go off every
few years on wild goose chases like this one. This is the technical
equivalent of frivolous or harassing lawsuits, wasting everyone's time,
directly or indirectly.
ISO is becoming part of the problem by not following its own guidelines
and sending this crap back to were it came from.

-Lars
