Hi,
I'm starting to read "threats" to ODF.
I saw the following remark on a portuguese astroturfer at
http://blogs.technet.com/openchoice/archive/2008/04/10/manuten-o-e-evolu-o-do-formato-open-xml-passa-para-a-iso.aspx
About OASIS handing control of ODF to ISO, I don't really think they
have any choice now. For two years they have been trying to paint a
piture of ODF being the only "true" standard (since it is in ISO) but
now the game has flipped. If they don't hand over control of ODF to ISO,
ODF will be conceived as the document format that only wanted the
ISO-stamp and nothing else ...
I don't know where he got that english text (the rest is in portuguese
so that is surely some c&p "blow job") but I haven't found it with
Google.
Just before that english paragraph he says, in portuguese, that "ODF was
stopped, waiting for corrections and evolution at OASIS (under the
control of SUN and IBM) and will now have little option than to pass
maintenance to ISO SC34."
I think they will try to "step on" ODF with that kind of argument...
Also, by now I think that if Patrick Duruseau is not removed as ODF
editor that means, to me, his backers have something fishy going on.
