G'day.

Today we have released the 4.0 version of our Xena digital
preservation software.

Xena does two important things for digital preservation:

 * determines file formats
 * converts to standards based, open formats

This new version delivers a number of improvements, for example:

 * the audio plugin is enabled by default
 * the export facility is available via the viewer UI
 * a compressed file plugin ( zip, bzip, gzip etc)
 * image file metadata is extracted to XML
 * the embedded Help is completely new

But don't take my word for it. Visit the new Xena web site:

http://xena.sourceforge.net

... and see for yourself.

As always, please let us know what you think; good, bad or otherwise.

Thanks,

Michael Carden
