The conclusions, section 6, of the PEGSCO report are interesting and can
be useful since if strictly interpreted do exclude MOOX[1] in all but
name.
However, the intial part of the document, section 3 specifically,
contains a great many factual errors regarding MOOX and some
speculation/wishful thinking in place of facts.
3.1 - correct
3.2 - we see now it is not XML, though it does make some use of XML
3.3 - so far only the OASIS spec (now standard) is published in its
entirety, the other does not provide enough to be compliant or
even useul
3.4 - again one uses XML following the spirit of XML, the other
provides lip service to interoperability and includes
a lot of binaries
3.5 - only the Sun plugin works for MSO
3.6 - good but not relevant for editable documents

[1] I still don't know WTF to call the cluster of .docx,
Ecm376 and MS OOXML, nor add to the confusion by
conflating these different formats.
