Jody Goldberg of Gnumeric is a former Novell staffer who participated in
ECMA TC 45 on Novell's behalf and who brought this initiative to the Gnome
Board. Gnumeric was one of the first products out the door with OOXML
support. IIRC, Jody also made significant contributions to the ODF Formulas
SC work. With Gnumeric supporting OOXML, it makes some sense to me for Jody
to participate from inside Ecma in the rewrite of DIS 29500. Gnumeric has a
dog in that fight.

Jody's blog is here. <http://blogs.gnome.org/jody/>. There's a fairly
lengthy conversation in the comments on this page, <
that raises some of the issues you do.
