Thanks for the clarification.  That smooths over a lot of problems and
the overall mission of the GNOME project is quite worthy.

Point 5 is a bit weird though, at least in its wording, and leaves a lot
of room for misinterpretation, especially in light of mistatements made
by prominent people (not connected with GNOME) about the origins of ODF.
  Yes, both are influenced by their origins, but perhaps not quite to
the same extent.  (e.g. escherichia coli and bacillus anthracis can both
cause illness, however
...)
