[odf-discuss] Gnome Foundation and ECMA

So we're all on the same page, note that IBM is an "ordinary member"
(voting member) of Ecma. We've been one for a long time, before OOXML or
ODF even existed. Our involvement in Ecma is has been mainly in
hardware-related standards. We are not members of TC45. In fact you may
recall that we used our vote in Ecma to vote against creating TC45 as well
as against approving OOXML as an Ecma Standard.

So I'm not sure we can say that IBM and GNOME are doing the same thing.
Maybe a closer analogy would be between Novell and GNOME, since Novell
does participate in TC45.

-Rob
