I don't have time for an extended answer right now because I have
worked all night and need sleep. But the membership issue is only one
facet of far more intractable issues that have defied resolution since
the Technical Committee's very first meeting. I see no reasonable
possibility of their resolution without public discussion and Sun's
membership ploy is an unavoidable subject in that discussion.
The fundamental issue is whether OpenDocument is Sun Microsystem's
standard or whether OpenDocument belongs to the world. The world is
moving to open standards and free and open source software. If the
dinosaurs are too busy trying to eat each other to come along, that is
their problem.
Best regards,
Marbux
