I wouldn't expect an HTML conversion to retain layout accurately.  As
long as all the content is there and in a readable format I think Google
have done a great job.  Being a search engine, the big news is that ODF
documents are now being indexed.

I agree with you that at least applications that support ODF natively
should display the same document more consistently - but that's a
different matter.  Incidentally, discrepancies between different
platforms (Linux vs. Windows) may be caused simply by different fonts
installed on the systems.
