[odf-discuss] ODF as a memory dump of OOo internals

Last month Håkon Wium Lie, of Opera asserted in a CNet article that
"ODF is an XML-based dump of the internal data structures of OpenOffice"

There are flaws with OpenDocument, even after recent improvements for
accessibility, but I suspect that being an XML-based dump of the internal
data structures of OpenOffice is not one of them. To my relatively
uneducated eye, the spec did not seem to fit that description when I
examined it last year.

I am not deeply familiar with either OOo nor ODF to publicly rebut a
celebrity like Håkon. However, I would like to know where I should be
looking to find information which I could use to urge him to reconsider
what appears to be a misstatement.
