Disclaimer: I have contacts with people working at the Red Hat Magazine
and have already published a couple of articles there.

Don't look to much into it: they published recently another article
(from a 3-rd party contributor, like their most articles) about ODF:
http://www.redhatmagazine.com/2007/07/25/odf-the-inevitable-format/

Those graphics seems a follow-up on that article from an enthusiastic
reader (be that reader in or outside Red Hst).

If Red Hat was trying that it would be a press release
(http://www.redhat.com/about/news/) not an informal article on the
magazine where (almost) anyone can publish.

As a regular contributor and follower of Fedora, I am not aware of such
intentions from Red Hat and knowing the people behind the Magazine don't
expect such, but take whatever measures, is good to have the mark protected.

With those bing said, my personal opinion is that logo look a kind of
amateurish, but this have not stopped me playing with it and spreading
the meme.
