The quotes in the article are so bad they're almost funny:

"It is not unlike how some people wanting to travel from one place to
another will choose an automobile and others will choose to fly," the
letter continues. "Both are modes of transportation but they are
fundamentally different and serve different communities, just as ODF 1.0
and Open XML are both document formats, but are fundamentally different,
meeting different needs among users."

I wonder which one is the car.
