Definitely an installer bug. It's fixed now. I should have checked that
the installation directory exists. Now the viewer makes sure that it
exists.

No. The problem is that the viewer tries to untar something into
~/.local and if ~/.local doesn't exist it dies. So I preceded the tar
command by 'mkdir -p "$ROOT"'.

I can reproduce the bug, and the new package I uploaded fixes it.

Yes, please. Could you try the new package and see if it works? Same
URL. I overwrote the previous file.
