I has two reasons. (1) To try to get people to pay attention to 
the draft. I've found that if I don't put a fairly-soon date on a 
draft, then everyone seems to put it in the "I'll look at it 
later" pile and then never gets back to it. :-)

(2) I was under the impression (which I now realise was wrong) 
that we were going to publicise the beta release, not wait until 
the "version 1" release.

So let's polish the draft.

And perhaps even more importantly, let's compile a list of who to 
send the press release to, when the time comes. I have very few 
media contacts, I do not want to get stuck with the job of 
developing a list of contacts, I do not have a clue how to get a 
press release into the "system", and to be perfectly honest I 
have very little interest in learning (even to help ODF).

IMO, the Fellowship desperately needs a "press officer" to deal 
with stuff like this, but I am not that person.

Lars, the above rant is not aimed at you personally. Your note 
just gave me the excuse to say it. :-)
