Just to add some context to this quote, in case anyone is confused:

The quote refers to KFormula.  Most other apps were using OpenDocument 
natively as of KOffice 1.5, of course (at least, those applications for which 
OpenDocument is relevant).

Quoth Alfredo (who did most (all?) of the work on KFormula for 1.6):

  "We have now native support of both MathML and OpenDocument,
    with an internal layout that resembles very well these formats' layout.
    We have achieved nearly full support (more than 70% of tests passed,
    comparing to 20% of old KFormula and 22% of OOMath2)."
