So, Konqueror is all set and we can contact Mozilla and Opera.

Would it be worth also trying to get Apple to support ODF in Safari ?
(and maybe other apps like TextEdit.)  I'm not sure how to go about that. 
the first path I considered was to file bug reports, but it does not seem 
possible to link to specific bug reports and thus difficult to establish a 
demand from the user base that way.
