I'd like to see another column for target completion date and perhaps
rank tasks by target completion date with those scheduled to be
completed first at the top. The target completion date would not be a
binding commitment, but would let us know whether someone may need a
reminder or to see if someone else would help or take on the task,
etc.
Ranking tasks by the target completion dates would let all of us see
what tasks are on the early completion horizon so we think about what
else may need to be done in conjunction with the completion, e.g.,
develop publicity materials for an impending software release.
The completion target date would also help us cycle tasks that have
been completed into a separate DONE category, which at least in my
experience conveys a sense of progress on the larger list of tasks,
i.e., that things are actually getting done. The DONE category also
lets us, a few years from now when memories have faded, determine who
was working on what when in case follow-up work is needed. It would in
effect become the history of Fellowship projects.
Best regards,
