Because it uses xulrunner which is 9MB. The developer's download (ie.
sans xulrunner) is 16KB. :)

Alex says that maybe it can be optimized. I'm sure we don't use 100% of
the features of xulrunner.

We are not at the stage where going through the test suite makes sense,
the XSLT is too much in flux. But in general, I can say that there is
good support for tables, images, frames, lists, table of contents and
footnotes. The most conspicuous thing that doesn't work is pagination.
HTML has no concept of pages, and ODF is a paged format. When you lose
pagination you automatically lose headers, footers, page numbers, etc.
This also means that the table of contents doesn't have page numbers,
but instead, a series of links.

In brief, the viewer makes an ODT file look like a web page.

Support for spreadsheets and presentations is in the works. Support for
drawings/vector graphics is postponed for the future.
