Thanks.  That gives us the "Microsoft Open Specification Promise" which 
does seem to apply to MOOX.  See down near "Office XML File Formats"
 	http://www.microsoft.com/interop/osp/default.mspx

Now is there a link for a "covenant" for MOOX ?  The interop link only 
goes to the one for Office 2003 which states very clearly that there is 
currently no such beast for MOOX:

 	"Microsoft will make the covenant above available
 	for the Ecma International Standard on Office Open
 	XML file formats."

If it isn't in writing, it didn't happen.
