Hello,
Ok, I've written a new installer for the viewer under Linux. It is based
on Autopackage, but with a few (IMO) improvements.
http://opendocumentfellowship.org/~daniel/odfviewer-linux-beta1.bin
* Download.
* Run it on a terminal.
Option 1: Make it executable, click and choose "Run on Terminal".
Option 2: Open a terminal, and run sh odfviewer-linux-beta1.bin
Yes, it needs a terminal to run.
* This program doesn't require Internet access to run. It will ask you
two questions:
1. OK to install support code now?
Say 'Y'. "support code" is included in the package.
2. OK to download and install graphical interface now?
You don't need this to install, but if you want to say 'y' there's no
harm. You just need an internet connection.
* You may install it as root or as a regular user. If you install as
root the viewer goes in /usr/local/bin/odfviewer and if you install as a
regular user it gets installed in $HOME/.local/bin/odfviewer
* I do not recommend installing the package _twice_ as root. It's an
issue to do with the installation directory. The guys at Autopackage say
they'll fix it soon (as in, this weekend). It's fine to install twice as
a regular user, or to install once as root.
Because this is a brand new installer I am hesitant to use it on the
final release until a few people have tested it.
Cheers,
Daniel.
